How Our Terms Work
Each Harmony Global Classroom term runs over 10 structured learning weeks, followed by 2 transition weeks. The rhythm balances preparation, deep in-person immersion, reflection, and family time, allowing learning to be both rigorous and human-scaled.
How the term is designed
Every term follows the same intentional flow, wherever we are in the world. Learning begins remotely to build shared understanding, skills, and inquiry questions. We then come together in place for sustained, experiential learning rooted in the local environment, culture, and community. The term closes with a return to remote learning, giving students space to consolidate, create, and reflect, before families transition to the next phase of travel or rest.
This structure provides continuity, flexibility, and depth—supporting learner agency while maintaining a clear academic spine.
Week 1

Flipped Learning (Remote Preparation)
Week 1 sets the tone for the entire term. Learners meet online to reconnect, build community, and prepare intellectually and practically for the place they are about to enter.
-
During this week, students:
-
Are introduced to the term’s guiding inquiry and themes
-
Build background knowledge and key skills
-
Begin language exposure relevant to the location
-
Take part in collaborative tasks and planning activities
-
Develop personal goals and questions for the term ahead
This week ensures everyone arrives grounded, confident, and curious.
Weeks 2-8
In-Person Immersive Learning
These seven weeks form the heart of the term. Learning is place-based, experiential, and inquiry-driven, using the local context as a living classroom.
-
During the in-person weeks, students:
-
Engage in fieldwork, projects, and community partnerships
-
Integrate academics across disciplines through real experiences
-
Work in small groups and mixed ages, guided by facilitators
-
Develop independence, collaboration, and responsibility
-
Build evidence for their personal learning portfolios
Days are intentionally structured but flexible, balancing focused learning, movement, creativity, and reflection.
Weeks 9-10

Remote Project-Based Learning
The final two learning weeks return online, allowing space for consolidation rather than constant momentum.
-
In these weeks, students:
-
Complete and refine projects begun during immersion
-
Reflect on learning, challenges, and growth
-
Receive individual facilitator feedback
-
Curate portfolio work and presentations
-
Connect learning back to broader global themes
This phase helps learning land, rather than rushing straight into the next experience.
Weeks 11-12
Family Time & Transition
The final two weeks are intentionally left unstructured by the programme. They are designed for families.
-
This time allows space to:
-
Travel onward or settle temporarily
-
Rest, reconnect, and reflect together
-
Integrate learning into everyday family life
-
Prepare practically and emotionally for the next term
Learning doesn’t stop here, it simply becomes quieter, more personal, and more integrated.
