The Global Classroom by Harmony Alternative

The Global Classroom is a groundbreaking, mobile learning experience designed for curious, self-directed learners aged 10+. Our program allows students to explore the world, engage with local cultures, and gain deep, inquiry-based knowledge through experiential, transdisciplinary learning. With families traveling together, the Global Classroom combines academic rigor with personal growth, ensuring a holistic, globally-connected educational journey.

What Makes Us Different?

We are not a traditional school. Instead, the Global Classroom is a unique educational model that integrates learning with real-world experiences in stunning, diverse locations across Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam. Students live and learn alongside their families, embracing flexible learning schedules that cater to each student’s individual pace, interests, and goals.

A Flexible & Holistic Learning Approach

Our transdisciplinary curriculum is designed to make learning relevant and connected to the world. Every term, students immerse themselves in thematic units that blend subjects like Global Politics, Environmental Systems, Mathematics, Visual Arts, and Language, with a deep focus on place-based learning.

  • Self-Directed & Facilitator-Supported Learning: Students guide their own learning with ongoing support from expert facilitators. We help students explore big questions about topics like sustainability, identity, well-being, and human flourishing.

  • Mixed-Age Learning: Students from different ages collaborate and learn together, with older students mentoring younger ones, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

How It Works

The year is split into three terms, each with a carefully planned structure to balance in-person experiences with remote learning:

  • Weeks 1: Remote, flipped learning with preparatory tasks.

  • Weeks 2-8: In-person, immersive learning experiences in local communities.

  • Weeks 9-10: Remote, project-based learning, including peer check-ins.

  • Weeks 11-12: Family time, reflection, and transition before the next term.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

While the core subjects are rooted in the curriculum, hands-on experiences define our approach. Students:

  • Conduct field-based investigations on sustainability, agriculture, and marine biology.

  • Work on community projects that connect their learning with real-world impact.

  • Engage in cultural exchanges, ensuring a rich understanding of the regions they visit.

Academic Credibility & Pathways Beyond School

The Global Classroom offers a Harmony Portfolio, where students document their growth, reflections, and achievements over the year. This portfolio can be used for:

  • University applications (with a focus on creative, liberal arts, and global programs).

  • IB DP exam preparation (for those wishing to take external exams).

  • Alternative pathways to higher education or internships, showcasing students' self-directed learning and global awareness.

Our Facilitators: Expert Guides for Your Journey

Facilitators are experienced educators who guide students through the curriculum, lead field trips, and help connect theoretical knowledge to real-world application. Find out more about our team.
