Global Classroom Roots

Harmony Alternative offers two pathways for younger learners, each designed around nature, culture, creativity, and play. Children can join for a single term or multiple terms, allowing families flexibility while still experiencing the depth of the programme.

Southeast Asia Pathway

Stories, Nature, and Culture Across Southeast Asia

The Southeast Asia pathway takes young learners on a gentle journey through three vibrant regions: Chiang Dao (3 weeks) / Natai Beach (1 month) in Thailand, Weligama / Kandy in Sri Lanka, and Hoi An in Vietnam,

Each location offers a unique environment for children to explore — from jungle-covered mountains and quiet beaches to colourful historic towns and lively fishing villages. These places become living classrooms where children can experience the sights, sounds, tastes, and traditions of Southeast Asia.

Our programme for younger learners is built around nature, creativity, play, and cultural discovery. Children are encouraged to explore the world through their senses — touching, tasting, listening, observing, and imagining.

Throughout the term, we connect with the landscapes and communities around us, discovering how people live, grow food, tell stories, and care for their environments.

Experiences May Include

  •  Exploring beaches and learning about shells, tides, and ocean life

  • Visiting farms and gardens to discover how food grows

  • Playful numeracy woven into daily life, using local currency at markets, counting ingredients while preparing snacks, measuring, sorting, and noticing patterns in nature

  • Preparing and sharing simple daily snacks using fresh tropical ingredients

  • Creative art and craft inspired by local materials and traditions

  • Listening to traditional stories and creating imaginative tales together

  • Gentle walks through forests and nature trails

  • Meeting local makers, farmers, and craftspeople

  • Playing games and learning simple words from local languages

  • Observing animals, insects, and plants in tropical environments

  • Drawing, storytelling, and creative reflection inspired by the day’s experiences

These experiences allow children to connect deeply with the places they visit while developing curiosity, confidence, and an emerging understanding of the world around them.
