Everything Begins with Gratitude

Updated: 18 hours ago

As David and I sit here post Lombok, we’ve reflected a lot on this project and our vision. At the heart of this project is a simple but essential mindset: gratitude.

Gratitude for the opportunity to travel.

Gratitude for being welcomed into cultures and communities that are not our own.

Gratitude for the people who share their knowledge, their stories, and their lives with us.

We know that this is a rare and privileged opportunity. One that many do not have and we believe that how we show up matters. We are guests in these places, not consumers of them. Our role is to listen, to learn, to respect, and to remain open, to be continually curious, rather than complacent.

Coming from the west, a world that often pushes for more, we are intentionally taking a different path. We try to encourage our learners and families to slow down, to notice, and to appreciate what is already here. Through daily mindfulness practices, reflection, and shared experiences, we invite our community to reconnect with a sense of awe, to see each place, each person, and each moment as meaningful.

So if you are considering us, consider this: We are not looking for those who have “seen it all.” We are looking for those who are still willing to feel it all. And we totally do.
